What the heck??? Endocrine disruption - what is it?
Your endocrine system is made up of Pineal, Pituitary, Thyroid, and Parathyroid glands. They store and release hormones that instruct all the different parts of your body. They control your metabolism, growth, mood, sexual function and a whole heap of other important stuff. You probably don’t want to coat your body with stuff that messes with all that.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines an endocrine disrupting chemical as “an exogenous substance or mixture that alters function(s) of the endocrine system and consequently causes adverse health effects in an intact organism, or its progeny, or (sub)populations.”
So, the question is, what stuff should you avoid putting on your skin?
Answer: The following is a few things that you may find in cosmetics, including soap…
TRICLOSAN
PARABENS
PFAS
BPA
PHTALATES
BENZOPHENONE-3
The question is: How many of these substances are in your bathroom right now?
For a huge amount of information click here to read the: Global assessment on the state of the science of endocrine disruptors (who.int)
I found it interesting that these endocrine disruptors are even altering Mother Nature, and all the little critters in it. The more I read, the more insane it all is!
So, what can you do about it?
I think you know.
