Why did the Australian clay cross the road?

Because it was feeling a bit kaolin.

Ok, that made no sense at all, but it was the joke offered up by my computer’s little chat robot. Kaolin is the type of clay that Australian white clay is.

People ask me why put clay in the soap, and why Australian white clay?

The answer to that is because I found that it was the best clay to use during my many, many experiments. Not to mention its 100% Australian. It can be found in the Eyre Peninsula and was used by Aboriginals for face painting.

Some of the benefits are:

  • It reduces the size of pores and helps refine and texture the skin.

  • Sooths sensitive and irritated skin and reduces redness.

  • Helps to exfoliate, ever so lightly.

It’s why I choose it for my soap in a precise ratio that is best suited for the type of soap I make, which is, of course, the best soap possible!
